TITLE: HORSE-RIDING CAMP \u2013 GROWING (AND HAVING FUN) TOGETHER<\/strong><\/p>\n

PROJECT DESCRIPTION<\/strong>
\nThe project offers an educational and rehabilitation program<\/strong>that also includes recreation, sport, social interaction, and inclusion, for a group of 10 children with disabilities, involving<\/strong>
\nhorses and their environment<\/strong>.
\nThe program includes a \u201cweek in nature\u201d<\/strong>, in the form of a day camp\u00a0<\/strong>lasting 5 days<\/strong>, giving each participating child the opportunity to explore new ways to develop their potential<\/strong> and discover alternative ways of<\/strong>
\nexpressing themselves, building relationships, and communicating<\/strong> through caring for an animal, play and enjoyment, outdoor activities, contact with nature and animals, and spending time with other children, with the horse acting as a mediator, playmate, and sporting companion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES<\/strong>
\nThe overall aims of the project primarily concern improving the mental and physical well-being\u00a0<\/strong>of the person with disabilities<\/strong>through activities that broaden their experience, reshape their self-image, andbuild self-esteem<\/strong>; promoting<\/strong>
\ngreater independence where possible<\/strong>; improving the management of impulses and<\/p>\n

\n

drives; developing strategic problem-solving skills;<\/p>\n

\n

adapting to the environment<\/strong> and its rules; developing the ability to express<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

needs and wishes in ways others can understand<\/strong>,<\/strong> and intentions; developing social skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

The proposed program also aims to promote and enhance the participation and inclusion of<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

children and adolescents in \u201csport for all\u201d<\/strong>, as a right of all citizens regardless of age, background, or the challenges they face, putting the person, rather than performance, at the center.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Specific objectives:<\/strong>
\nThe relationship between child and horse is an important experience involving movement, emotions, relationships, and communication.
\n\u2022 Help the child with disabilities improve their ability to adapt;<\/strong> learn to approach new situations positively; improve and refine practical and motor skills; and
\ndevelop independence<\/strong>by starting with specific equestrian situations and gradually learning to apply these skills more broadly and transfer them to everyday life, as well as\u00a0increase self-esteem.<\/strong>
\n\u2022 In terms of motor development,<\/strong> activities will focus on acquiring new movement patterns<\/strong>
\nand developing coordination, balance, dexterity, and related skills<\/strong> in harmony with the rhythm and sequence of the horse’s movements.
\n\u2022 In emotional and relational terms,<\/strong> horses will be involved to help children face their fears and aggressive feelings<\/strong>by directly experiencing the rules governing interactions with horses and the group, and learning to internalize and respect them.
\n\u2022 Particular emphasis is placed on caring for and grooming horses to help children learn to solve problems and develop independence.<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Developing a sense of responsibility<\/strong> and the ability to care for \u201ctheir\u201d horse can be a first step toward greater empathy, with the aim of applying these skills to caring for themselves and their belongings.<\/p>\n

PARTICIPANTS<\/strong>
\nThe project is intended for 10 children with disabilities from the province of Bologna<\/strong> aged 10\u201315<\/strong>
\nyears<\/strong>who already attend AIASPORT ONLUS equine-assisted rehabilitation during the year, either privately or through an agreement with the Bologna Local Health Authority.<\/p>\n

PROJECT STRUCTURE<\/strong>
\nThe summer camp will take place after the school term ends<\/strong> (in late June or early September, depending on participating families\u2019 needs), Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will also offer the option of a night in a tent<\/strong> at no additional cost.<\/p>\n

During the week, activities will be divided into two periods:
\n\u2013 In the morning,<\/strong> there will be numerous and varied activities with horses<\/strong> (grooming and preparing horses, games and exercises in the arena, rides along nature trails at GESE, untacking, caring for, tending, and feeding the horses).
\n\u2013 In the afternoons<\/strong> there will be various educational and recreational activities<\/strong>, workshops, and sensory, psychomotor, and relationship-building activities. Some will take place in the GESE grounds, while others will involve discovering new places to explore together.
\nAll activities will take place in a playful, enjoyable atmosphere<\/strong>, which is essential to engage the children and sustain their motivation and enthusiasm for participating.<\/p>\n

STAFF:<\/strong>
\nTo provide meaningful, effective rehabilitation and educational activities, the AIASPORT ONLUS team maintains a high standard of quality<\/strong> and professionalism, with a ratio of<\/strong>
\n1 educator to every 2 children with disabilities, plus 1 volunteer for every 3 children<\/strong>.
\nAll instructors and educators involved<\/strong> in delivering the project have
\nproven specialist expertise and extensive experience<\/strong> of at least 4 years in equestrian activities for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES:<\/strong>
\n1) 8 HORSES<\/strong> selected for their particularly gentle temperaments and suitability for this work, as well as their appropriate size for mounting riders with disabilities.
\n2) 2 LOCATIONS<\/strong>
\n\u2013 At GESE<\/strong>, where AIASPORT has 1 indoor riding arena<\/strong>and a large, protected outdoor area closed to cars, with accessible paths and trails in natural surroundings.
\n\u2013 At Podere Ca\u2019 Fiume<\/strong>, 8 km from GESE, which in addition to having 1 riding arena<\/strong> and 1 round pen<\/strong>
\noutdoors<\/strong> and numerous horses, is also a farm<\/strong> with various farmyard animals; it also has abeautiful vegetable garden<\/strong>
\ngrown organically, as well as a large TEPEE<\/strong>and provides access to walking trails along the Idice River Park.
\n3) VARIOUS TYPES OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT adapted and accessible to people with<\/strong> different types ofdisabilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

PROJECT COST *<\/strong>
\nThe total project cost is \u20ac5,640.00<\/strong>
\n(Services are exempt from VAT under Article 10, paragraph 27-ter, of Presidential Decree 633\/72.)<\/p>\n

AIASPORT ONLUS can cover 50% of the total\u00a0<\/strong>project cost (\u20ac2,820.00)<\/strong>, by requesting a participation contribution<\/strong> from the families of participating children with disabilities and through various fundraising initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A contribution is requested from Fondazione Irma Romagnoli Onlus to cover the remaining 50%<\/strong>
\nof the costs<\/strong> of delivering this ambitious initiative, amounting to \u20ac2,820.00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
