Day 1 – Welcome to Kathmandu

We land in Kathmandu, and as soon as we cross the airport threshold, we feel that the journey has truly begun. A local collaborator welcomes us and accompanies us to Guest House Tolkji, in the vibrant heart of the Tibetan quarter of Boudhanath, just a few steps from the great Stupa. Here, time seems to slow down, while colors, smiles, and scents invite us to let go of the hustle and bustle and open ourselves to the experience.

Also welcoming us is Vittoria, the Italian trip leader, who will be with us throughout the adventure. With her attentive presence and constant guidance, she accompanies us step by step, weaving together stories, traditions, and special moments that make each encounter more profound and authentic.

As the sun begins to set, we immerse ourselves in the spirituality of Boudhanath. We walk slowly around the Stupa with Tibetan monks and pilgrims, following the silent flow of prayer. The sound of bells, the mantras vibrating in the air, and the spinning prayer wheels create a suspended, intense atmosphere, capable of touching us deeply. It is a moment not to be forgotten: our first true contact with the soul of Nepal.

Legend has it that a devout elderly Buddhist woman asked the King for only a small piece of land to build a temple. The King, perplexed, granted her a space the size of a wool sweater. The woman then unraveled the sweater and, with the thread, traced a perimeter much larger than expected. On that land rose the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, today the most important Buddhist cultural center in Nepal, a UNESCO World Heritage site, around which over fifty monasteries have been built. Here we feel the strength of a simple, vibrant, and powerful faith.

We conclude the day with a Welcome Dinner at a small restaurant overlooking the Stupa. Sitting together, as the lights come on and prayers continue to circle around us, we share flavors, emotions, and the awareness that this journey has already begun to transform us.

Day 2 – Ayurveda, spirituality, and the sacred river

The day begins early, when Kathmandu is still enveloped in a subtle quiet. At 7:30 AM we gather for a Pranayama session: a conscious breathing practice designed to awaken the body, clear the mind, and prepare with presence for the day’s experiences. All Pranayama practices during the trip are optional, but we highly recommend them to delve deeper into the rhythm of the journey and gain maximum benefit.

We enter the ancient world of Ayurveda, at the Himalayan Herbal Preparation laboratory. Here we discover the principles and philosophy of the Ayurvedic tradition, learning to recognize the three Doshas and the five elements that govern the balance of life. We also delve into the value of food as medicine, understanding how nutrition, according to Ayurveda, is not just sustenance but a tool for healing and harmony.

An opportunity to explore the flavors of Kathmandu independently or simply take a break, allowing the knowledge and sensations of the morning to settle.

Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. Here, life and death meet on the banks of the Bagmati River, in a powerful and deeply symbolic place. We observe in silence, respecting the rituals, as we understand how intertwined the sacred is with the daily life of this country.

We witness one of the most intense moments of the day: the fire dance, the Arati. The flames move to the rhythm of the mantras, creating a hypnotic atmosphere charged with devotion, which involves and deeply touches us.

We return to the Guest House for an included dinner, sharing the emotions of the day and letting ourselves be enveloped by the awareness of having lived another authentic experience, capable of nourishing body, mind, and spirit.

Day 3 – Bhaktapur and Khada Devi

A moment dedicated to conscious breathing to awaken the body and prepare for the journey.

We leave Kathmandu and depart for Bhaktapur, an ancient royal city and UNESCO World Heritage site. We stroll through monumental squares, finely carved temples, and alleys that tell centuries of history. Here, time seems to have stood still: daily life flows slowly, amidst artisans at work, rituals, and discreet smiles that accompany us step by step.

An opportunity to savor local cuisine or simply observe the vibrant life of this extraordinary city, letting its authentic beauty inspire us.

We change pace and perspective: we depart by jeep towards Khada Devi, crossing increasingly green and rural landscapes. The road leads us away from the most beaten paths, towards a more intimate Nepal, made of hills, cultivated fields, and villages where time still follows the cycle of nature. Khada Devi is located in the Ramechhap district, an authentic and little-explored region, where life is still deeply connected to the land and its rhythms.

The name Khada Devi is linked to an ancient temple dedicated to the Goddess, a pilgrimage site for local communities. According to tradition, this place has been a spiritual reference point for centuries for those seeking protection, healing, and blessing. During our trip, we will visit this temple, walk through its courtyards and sacred statues, breathing in the devotion that animates devotees and pilgrims.

In this land, spirituality is not separate from daily life: it intertwines with work in the fields, with the seasons, with village life. Arriving in Khada Devi means coming into contact with a deep, silent, and genuine Nepal, where history and myth coexist naturally and where every encounter becomes part of the journey.

We arrive at Phauna Ghar, where overnight stay and dinner are included, a moment of relaxation and sharing under the silent sky of this authentic corner of Nepal.

Day 4 – Trekking and village life

A moment dedicated to conscious breathing to awaken the body and open ourselves to the beauty of the journey.

Today we visit the Khada Devi temple, immersing ourselves in the spirituality of this place, before starting our trek towards Hiledevi. The trails wind through green hills, small villages, and cultivated lands, offering authentic and silent glimpses, far from mass tourism.

Throughout the journey, we will be accompanied by the majesty of Father Himalaya, the mountain range that stands before us, constant and imposing. The sight of its snow-capped peaks reminds us of the grandeur of nature and the strength of the places we are crossing, making the trek a unique and deeply emotional experience.

An opportunity to savor local cuisine or simply observe the vibrant life of this extraordinary city, letting its authentic beauty inspire us.

We reach the Homestays of Lama Tholl village, part of the Hyolmo Community, where we stay overnight in an authentic and welcoming environment. The Irma Romagnoli Foundation was born from an act of love.

The love that Irma Romagnoli felt for all defenseless beings.

The love that drove her to devote herself passionately to caring for those who asked for her help, thanks to the discovery of an innate energy that made her a respected pranotherapist, recommended even by medical specialists.

The Irma Romagnoli Foundation was established in accordance with her last wishes. Irma, who used to say “I ask for nothing and refuse nothing”, left all her assets to the Foundation so that it could continue, in her name, to care for the defenceless, especially children in need and their families, and to support research into traditional medicine.
