PROJECT: “INSTALLATION OF A SWING ACCESSIBLE TO CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND MOTOR DISABILITIES”

OBJECTIVES

The aim is to install a “triple” swing in the spacious garden of the Chicco Balboni Day Center in Villanova di Castenaso: one seat for children without motor impairments and two for people with physical disabilities, including very severe disabilities, who use wheelchairs and can be accommodated in a supportive seat or a “cradle” rather than on a standard flat seat.

The overall objective is to help improve the young people’s quality of life by promoting the outdoor recreational activities they greatly enjoy and seek out. These activities provide fun, relaxation, and opportunities to explore their abilities through play. The swing installation project will thus complement their individual life plans.

The swing is intended particularly for the children and young people attending the Center. There are currently three minors, aged 9, 12, and 15; two have motor disabilities and use wheelchairs. It will also be much appreciated and in demand among young people aged 18–20.

The swing offers three options to suit different motor needs: a standard flat seat, a cradle for children who lack head control, and a seat with protective supports and a high back for those unable to support themselves.

INTRODUCING THE ACCESSIBLE TRIPLE SWING

CAMELLIA SWING – Flat seat and accessible seat €1,997.25 + INSTALLATION €363.00
The frame is made from galvanized, powder-coated steel tubing with a diameter of 7.6 cm. It includes one flat seat with an aluminum core covered in soft, shock-absorbing vulcanized rubber with protective edging, and one special accessible cradle seat with an aluminum frame covered in soft, shock-absorbing vulcanized rubber with protective edging. The seat’s particular shape makes getting in and out very easy while protecting children and preventing falls. The suspension chains are made from galvanized steel with fine links at least 6 mm thick and gaps between links of no more than 8 mm to prevent children’s fingers from being pinched. The chains on the accessible seat also have protective rubber sleeves. The moving joints are made from stainless steel with ball bearings. Maximum equipment dimensions: 164 × 344 × height [height not specified in the original].

SHOCK-ABSORBING TILES €560.25, red
Elastic, shock-absorbing rubber tiles for outdoor use, made from 90% recycled material and 100% recyclable. Particularly suitable as safety surfacing for any playground equipment, they make the area easier to clean and provide a non-slip, quick-drying surface.

EASY SWING €3,888.00 + installation, including 4 foundation blocks, €792.00
The frame is made from four hot-dip galvanized steel tubes with a diameter of 102 mm. The swinging cradle consists of rubber elements connected by steel cables. The suspension uses 16 mm Herkules ropes made from six galvanized steel strands, each individually coated with heat-bonded Perlon.
