FUNDING REQUEST

For our project in Ethiopia, through which Cittadinanza Onlus provides care and rehabilitation to more than 200 children with disabilities or neurological conditions.

During 2020, the project identified nearly 100 children with various disabilities in the areas of Dilelle and Tulu Bolo, respectively 15 and 30 km from St. Luke Hospital in Wolisso, where Cittadinanza Onlus works with Doctors with Africa CUAMM. Some children have accessed hospital services, while others receive rehabilitation at home. Their families and rural communities also take part in public awareness activities. In addition, St. Luke’s psychiatry clinic provides more than 1,000 consultations each year to children diagnosed with epilepsy. The project ensures that these consultations and medications are free of charge. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ethiopian government introduced containment measures that slowed home-based activities. These were replaced by an emergency campaign which, thanks in part to the generous contribution from Fondazione Irma Romagnoli, ensured access to food and medical supplies for 49 families. Meanwhile, physiotherapy at the hospital and care for children with epilepsy continued without interruption.

A detailed report on activities and expenditure will be available at the end of January.

On behalf of the association, I therefore request a contribution of €10,000 to support our activities in Ethiopia in 2020.
