When Love Becomes Presence

2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9
A year that asks not for explanations,
but for truth.
A year that lets what is no longer needed fall away,
that strips things back, that teaches us to stay.
A year of compassion becoming helping hands,
of wisdom born from the heart’s quiet service.
A year that closes one cycle and opens another, without a sound.
It was with this deep feeling that we at Kapirus, together with Irma Romagnoli,
made our way through 2025.
Not as tourists, but as souls ready to listen.
A journey of solidarity that opened inner doors even before real ones,
laying a path towards the 2026 that awaits us.
And it was no coincidence that there were nine of us.
Nine breaths, nine hearts, nine souls travelling towards Nepal.
United by the simple, powerful wish
to be there, to bring love to our school in Sunapati, in the fragile, beautiful heart
of Ramechhap district.
That journey marked an ending.
The end of a project nurtured for years with care and dedication, culminating in a final gift: playground equipment for the school garden.
Equipment that means more than objects: laughter, movement, childhood breathing freely again.
Every time we arrive, their eyes light up. They welcome us with flower garlands, almost as if we were gods, as if the world, for a moment, were a safe place.
Children who today, thanks to you, have shoes to walk in and jackets for
the freezing nights beneath a starry sky,
when the Himalayan cold
gets into their bones and stays.
November brought colour to a place where everything is often dust.
It brought carefree moments, simple games
to lighten worries too heavy
for shoulders so small.
A gentle way of saying:
you are not alone.
Not today.
Not here.
Sometimes it takes so little:
a smile,
someone being there,
a gesture that seems small but saves the heart, even for those with no choice, no alternatives.
Ramechhap is a harsh, forgotten district.
The few children who remain live in a land that demands resilience.
We looked into their eyes, one by one.
And in those gazes, our hearts understood,
more deeply than any words could explain,
how vital it is to stay united and, above all, to keep them united.
We know one thing with absolute certainty:
without you,
without those who support us even simply by reading,
none of this would be possible.
That simple gesture allows us to continue,
to keep going, to keep believing.
2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, which becomes 1.
A new beginning.
A seed.
A first step towards something growing slowly, but strongly.
In April, we will set off again.
With those who want to see, touch and feel.
We will complete the final task and install the last playground equipment. We will explore Ramenchhap district, but above all,
we will meet another school.
Another promise.
Another heartfelt commitment.
We will begin with what they have asked for:
shoes,
warm clothes.
Their simple request echoes within us and does not fade.
More schools.
More children.
More possibilities for the future.
Here, caught up in our daily rush, we forget how fortunate we are. How our children have shoes and warm jackets, books and colours to enjoy a carefree life.
They remind us, without words.
And while we teach them colours or English, they teach us dignity.
True dignity.
The kind that asks for nothing,
but remains.
Thank you.
All of you.
With full hearts,
we feel eternally grateful.
To you, and to them.
