Casa Santa Chiara’s initiatives serve children, young people, and adults with disabilities, some without a family or adequate family support, who need educational relationships and opportunities to socialize. Through these initiatives, Casa Santa Chiara seeks to recognize each person’s dignity and rights, particularly those of the most vulnerable and marginalized, by addressing their needs and developing their potential.
These aims are pursued through care in small, family-style groups and through work, rehabilitation, and social activities at day centers.

Casa Santa Chiara also seeks to raise awareness within society and the Christian community about the lives of people with disabilities, moving beyond pity and dependency-based care and encouraging everyone to fulfill their responsibilities toward justice and solidarity through volunteering.

For two years, the Foundation has supported Casa Santa Chiara’s activities with annual donations of €2,000. It also intends to launch a fundraising campaign to purchase a small pool for the center, allowing children with severe disabilities to enjoy water-based activities.

“Outdoor Activities” Project:

The beautiful surrounding park provides an opportunity for the young people to spend time outdoors, playing and socializing in small and large groups. Through meaningful activities in close contact with nature, they can also experience a variety of sensory perceptions that together help them understand their surroundings. Pleasant, purposeful sensory experiences therefore help participants gain experience, knowledge, enjoyment, and motivation to take part in activities.

For young people with physical disabilities, these goals can be achieved by enabling them to change position outdoors and enjoy comfortable, pleasant movement stimulation. Purchasing mats with washable surfaces and attractive weather-resistant benches will allow us to work together while comfortably lying down or sitting on the benches.

The outdoor benches and mats will therefore help us make the most of time spent outside and deliver outdoor activities effectively.
